Leon Brown
Personal profile:
I moved to Devon from Barnsley in 1978. I gained my City and Guilds in Recreation and Leisure studies at South Devon Technical College in 1993 and worked as a lifeguard and activity leader in the USA in 1996 (6 – 16 year olds).
From 1996 – 1999, I was employed as a leisure centre gym supervisor and personal trainer.
I delivered personal development programmes for the Princes Trust Youth Programme (16 – 25year olds) in 2002 and ran my own outdoor activity business from 2002 – 2005, providing outdoor activities and team building challenges to young people with anti-social behavour. Clients included: Connexions Cornwall and Devon (PAYP), Torbay and Devon County Council, Pupil Referral Units and Torbay Youth Offending Team.
I became a committed Christian at the end of 2004 and was baptized in 2005.
Becoming a Christian has changed my life in a positive way and has given me hope for the future.
I managed the outdoor activity department for the Priory (adults with mental health issues) and worked as a Youth support worker for Devon Youth Service and a one to one support worker for Clyst Heath Primary School.
I joined the Teenbridge Project in September 2007.
My hobbies include mountaineering and surfing.
I am married to Laura and have a step son called Tom.
