Street Reach:
Our Street Reach teams are on the streets with the young people meeting them where they are, providing positive activities, being a safe place for them to meet, being available for chats, advise, support & a listening ear as well as supplying them with hot drinks and something to do.
Detached Youth work:
Our workers offer friendship and support to young people within the towns where we work. They are available to meet with the young people where they are currently meeting - whether this is on the sea fronts in Teignmouth and Dawlish, or in the parks, or just hanging around the streets. Our workers aim to build up strong relationships based on trust and respect for the young person, once these have been established our workers will offer support, advice, information as requested. They will also seek to develop 'project based' work with the young people.
We offer advice and information to the young people on current issues such as substance abuse - whether this be drug or alcohol related, and other associated patterns of behaviour that are having a bad effect on the development of the young person. It is expected that this will have a positive affect on the communities as a whole. We will also seek to work with them and encourage them to take part in activities that are different to their current lifestyles, in an attempt to show them that there are other alternatives, and by informing them of other agencies that exist to help them.
